Blanket stitch sewing video tutorial
The blanket stitch, also called buttonhole stitch, began as a way to finish the edges of blankets and other things like tea towels and pillowcases.
There are many ways to use this stitch as a decorative stitch – from flowers and leaves to filling and outlining.
The modern usage of the Blanket stitch:
- to finish an edge,
- to attach an appliqué,
- as a decorative stitch for outlining,
- a filling stitch,
- sewing stitch.
In this video, I show you how you can use this embroidery stitch for sewing. With this simple stitch, you can DIY a stuffed toy or Christmas ornament from felt.
