Fly stitch Video tutorial

Fly stitch is a surface embroidery stitch that you can work in horizontal or vertical lines. Also, you can use detached fly stitches to fill the area or make some accents. It is usual to use fly stitch for leaves or flower petals.

There are some variations of Fly stitch:

  • Fly stitch as V – with a short holding stitch
  • Fly stitch as Y – with long holding stitch

Try varying the length of the stitches and the V (or Y) angle to achieve different looks.
